Shipping Packages to Marina

                    SHIPPING PACKAGES/MAIL TO SHELTER BAY MARINA

Duty Free imports for yacht in transit. There is a Fedex office in the Zone to send parcels overseas.
 
There are many choices for shipping packages and flat mail to Shelter Bay Marina, including FedEx, DHL, and our freight forwarder. Do not use any postal system which depends on Panama Post.  It will not get here unless you are very lucky the postal service does not work very well, we don’t provide a postal address.

Note:   we have had problems with UPS and do not recommend them. US Postal Service and all others do not work well. 

Most packages pay service/customs fees when sent via currier. SBM will pay the fees and receive these packages in your absence. Please note that we charge a fee for this service of 20% of the payment we make or $10 which ever is greater.

Our freight forwarder ships packages from Miami, Florida to Panama City, Panama on Fridays. Please allow four to six weeks for delivery.

You must “pre-notified” us when you ship something with this service, so your package will clear customs faster. Our shipper maintains his own bonded customs house, which should speed up delivery for our packages being sent from Miami to Panama. Packages shipped to the freight forwarder without “pre-notification” will be held until the shipping information is verified.

The customs people will want the following information in the “pre-notification” you email to us;

a) the contents of the package, and who it is from
b) the value of the contents, and
c) the tracking number from who sent it (UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPO etc).

The package should have a commercial invoice or packing slip attached to the outside of the box declaring the contents and value.

Our price is $3.00/lb rounded up to the next pound, plus $5 per package customs fee (and at times 1% of the declared value) and the cost of shipping from Panama City to Colon (another $4 - $10 depending on the package’s size). Shipments are made once a week from Miami. Allow 30 additional days for transit, clearing customs and transport to Shelter Bay Marina, we do not provide tracking en-route Miami SBM.
IF YOUR PACKAGE IS NOT ADDRESSED WITH ALL THE INFORMATION, IT WILL BE DELAYED.

Ocean freight is only recommended if the package is OVER 200 lbs. The cost will depend on the weight/size and if it is a hazardous shipment $ 45 for the paper work (consolidated shipment $250 for dedicated shipments) plus about $ 2.00 per pound plus custom and delivery fees if any. Delivery with in 15/30 days is not guaranteed.
