WHERE ARE WE LOCATED? In side the Panama Canal Break Water at the North West corner of Lemon Bay, 200 yards South of Toro Point light. 9º 22.256’N and 79º 56.876’W
INSTRUCTIONS:
When first arriving to Panama, please display a Panamanian courtesy flag.
When approaching the breakwater, please call Cristobal Control (Cristobal Signal Station) on VHF channel 12 or 16 and notify them of your presence and your intention to go to Shelter Bay Marina. You will be entering freighter traffic lanes for one of the busiest ports in the world, and Cristobal Control will alert other ships to your location and direct you accordingly.
If you have just transited the canal coming from the Pacific side, drop off your pilot or advisor at anchorage "F" or "the Flats." Proceed North along the marked channel like you are heading to the main breakwater opening. Nearing the breakwater opening you will see the Shelter Bay green buoys on your port side. Turn left keeping the green "SB" buoys just to port and run parallel to the breakwater. Continue to the marina bay entrance. At approximately 9 22.23N and 79 56.864W you will see white concrete markers SB 12 Red and SB 13 Green showing the boundaries of the harbor entrance. Stay between the markers and proceed past the coast guard docks to the Marina. Contact the marina office on VHF 74 for your slip assignment.
If you are coming from the Caribbean, after passing through the entrance, turn right. Follow the breakwater keeping the green SB buoys on your port.
If you will be entering our harbor after dark, please contact us on the phone: Gabriel: 678 04614 or Dave: 667 97993 or Russ: 661 31558 or VHF 74 during business hours.
PLEASE CALL CRISTOBAL CONTROL ON CHANNEL 12 WHEN ARRIVING OR DEPARTING THE MARINA
